Mass Protocols and Reservations
Updated Liturgical Directives EFFECTIVE
Friday, November 20, 2020.
We continue to follow the Jackson County Recovery Plan 2.5 for the Covid 19 Pandemic for your safety. With the newly released order from Jackson County and with our
Diocese guidelines, we will do the following:
All current directives and requirements previously published remain in effect. The following items are NEW diocesan requirements in support of the county’s amended order referenced above.
Weekday and Sunday Masses continue as scheduled according to the liturgical directives of the Diocese and local health department. Six foot social distancing between households; hand sanitizer is to be made available.
Masks are required at all times inside church by each person over the age of 2, even while seated in the pews. For those with medical issues, a face guard is acceptable in place of a mask.
Congregational, light, soft singing REQUIRES a mask at all times.
Our seating is limited to 140 people capacity, allowing for the six foot distancing between families. We REQUIRE that everyone make a reservation for the Mass they wish to attend. You can sign up on our Website: srbcatholic.org, or by calling the office at 816-229-5168.
It is not our desire to keep anyone from being able to attend Mass, but you will be required to make a reservation to attend. Without signing up, we cannot guarantee you will have a seat. This also makes it easier for everyone, including the parish staff, ushers, and greeters.
If you select one Mass and it is full, you will have the opportunity to choose another one. Much thought and effort have been put into this in order to maintain precaution and safety. Remember, in the Eastern Jackson County Recovery Plan, MASKS MUST be worn at all times while in the Church.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call the office.
From the USCCB Website…
Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2021 and Good Friday
April 2, 2021, are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, all Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.
For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.
If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the “paschal fast” to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily his Resurrection.
