Sunday, September 24-The Fourth Sunday of September is a special day set aside to honor the priesthood in the United States. It is a day to reflect upon and affirm the role of the priest as central to the life of the Church. This special day offers an opportunity for priest and parishioners to build a stronger working relationship with our pastor, Fr. Rocha and express to him our support and appreciation for his service to the Church, and in particular our parish.
The Sanctuary Course for Catholics is a Mental Health Awareness and Education Course. The course will take place over an 8-week period, each Monday, from September 18 through October 30th, 2023. Each session includes a 30 min video and discussion after for approximately 1 hour. Course Description: One in four people will be affected by a mental health problem at some point in their lives, yet the stigma surrounding mental health silences many and prevents faith communities from responding compassionately and effectively. This eight-session course—designed for use in small groups—explores the realities of mental health and illness, as well as the vital need for faith-based community conversations about these topics. The sessions are accompanied by compelling films that feature the stories of Catholics living with mental health challenges, along with the insights of archbishops, theologians, and psychologists. We hope to see you there. Please contact Deacon Joe Zagar for any questions. The course is free.
The Kingdom Yet to Come Perhaps no book in the Bible fascinates people more than Revelation. Yet relatively few people have studied the book, especially from a Catholic perspective. Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come is an intriguing Bible study that shows how the kingdom established by Christ in this Church is intimately connected with the kingdom of heaven. St. Robert Bellarmine will begin an eleven-week Bible study on the Book of Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come on Tuesdays beginning September 12th after the 8:00am Mass (approximately 9:00am) and also on Thursdays beginning September 14th at 6:30pm in classroom #123. Participants will meet every week to view an engaging video presentation followed by lively group discussion and fellowship. For more information or to register, please contact Deacon Joe Zagar at either 816-229-5168 or email – dcnjoe@srbcatholic.org The cost for the study and workbook is $30.00.
