  • Holy Matrimony

In order to enter into the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at St. Robert Bellarmine, one party must be a registered and active member of the parish. We need at least nine months before the anticipated wedding as we need to meet with and help the couple prepare for the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.

    Marriage Preparation
If you are thinking about getting married, here are some things you need to know.

    Marriage Preparation Program
    Marriage Registration Form
    Thrive brochure

    1. Either the bride or the groom must be registered at St Robert's. We cannot, by church law, marry anyone who is not a parishioner. If you are from out of town but need to get married at St. Roberts due to a family situation please see #7.
    2. Marriage preparation takes a minimum of nine months in this diocese. The preparation process is detailed in the Marriage Preparation Program guide, link above. Following this guide ensures we meet the requirements of our diocese, Kansas City-St. Joseph.
    3. Weddings can take place almost any day of the year with a few exceptions. Weddings cannot take place during the Triduum (Holy Thursday through Easter Sunday) or on Christmas Day.
    4. The wedding date can not be set until marriage preparation has begun.
    5. The first step to start the process is to download the Marriage Registration Form, link above. Fill it out and then call the parish office to set up an appointment.
    6. Guidelines on planning your service suggested stipends, and costs are listed in the Marriage Preparation Program, link above.
    7.  If you need to get married at St. Roberts due to a family situation but reside out of town or in another parish, you will need to be registered in that parish and they must agree to work with you to complete your marriage preparation and grant us permission to perform the wedding.

If you have any questions, contact the office to set up a meeting with our priest or you may contact him directly.
